 My name is Roger Purdie and I have more than 13 years bookkeeping experience in both large and small businesses and come from a domestic banking background.

 The Construction Industry Scheme demands that individual sub-contractors are verified and details of how much they are paid and taxed are returned on-line to HMRC on a monthly basis. This is very time consuming and places a considerable burden on construction and allied businesses.
Be aware that there are penalties for late or inaccurate submissions.

It is likely that all VAT returns must be submitted online from 2012.
